Create a Lasting Legacy with CASS

Estate gifts, also known as planned or deferred gifts, are a powerful way to ensure your values and compassion live on. By including Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) in your estate plans, you create a lasting legacy that helps prevent and end homelessness for generations to come. Your planned gift provides safe shelter, support, and pathways to housing for individuals and families in crisis—ensuring that long after today, your generosity will continue to change lives.

There are many flexible ways to make a planned gift, from a simple bequest in your will or trust to designating CASS as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or charitable trust. Some types of planned gifts can even provide lifetime income to you or your loved ones, while also offering significant tax advantages. Others allow you to donate property, securities, or real estate in ways that align with your financial and philanthropic goals.

Importantly, there is no minimum gift required. Every planned gift—large or small—creates a foundation of hope, stability, and dignity for those we serve. By choosing to remember CASS in your estate plans, you are not only ensuring the future strength of our programs, but also making a statement about the kind of community you wish to see: one where everyone has a safe place to call home.

Types of Planned gifts

Bequests

Bequests in your will or trust are a simple and meaningful way to support CASS. A bequest may reduce your taxable estate and can be designated for general use or a specific purpose.

Sample bequest language:
“All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate for federal tax purposes I give to Central Arizona Shelter Services, 230 S. 12th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85007, Tax ID Number: 86-0500753, for its general purposes.”

Gifts of Appreciated Securities

Giving stocks or bonds can eliminate capital gains tax and provide an income tax deduction. Please contact Nicole Peña, Chief Development Officer at development@cassaz.org or (602) 256-6945 for transfer instructions.

Gifts of Real Estate

Gifting appreciated property may provide a charitable deduction for the full fair market value and help avoid capital gains tax.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Guarantees a fixed lifetime income and tax savings while supporting CASS’s mission.

Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)

Provides income for life, tax advantages, and supports CASS after your lifetime.

Life Estate

You can donate your home and retain lifetime use. This arrangement provides a significant current income tax deduction.
